Protector 101 “Hunter’s Journey” EP

protector101-hunterThanks to my friend Lars, I was recently turned onto the Aphasia label and I can safely say that I’m becoming obsessed.  I’ve been streaming this stuff like crazy the last few days (hope to purchase a few soon, when I’m slightly less broke), but this free EP from Protector 101 has been on highest alert.  It’s no secret that I’m pretty obsessed with all things Blade Runner and especially the Vangelis soundtrack of the film (one of my top 5 favorite albums ever if you pressed me to make such a list).  Well Aphasia toils in Blade Runner style synth-fueled fair and does so with considerable style and skill.  And I mean, just listen to “Club LaZer” and, if you’re as into that sort of thing as I am, you’ll be hooked.  That fucking saxophone, my god.  Everything here is so dark and sleazy with hints of neon – total magic.  I need so much more of this in my life.  Protector 101 have seemingly created the soundtrack to this book I’m writing without even realizing it.

P.S. Apparently Aphasia is releasing the next Perturbator album, so, to quote Lars, you know they’re legit.

P.P.S. If you’re not familiar with the sweetness that is Perturbator, please rectify this immediately.
