This is soul music for robots. Phoebé Guillemot’s productions as Ramzi always get into weird, opiate-laced zones but the underlying traditional Asian-inspired rhythms put this one into an even stranger place. At times it’s soothing, but I can’t shake the feeling I’m being indoctrinated into a futurist, circuit-worshipping cult that lives underwater. I realize that doesn’t make a lot of sense, but that’s what Guillemot wants. Consider me sold.
